What is dentistry?
Dentistry is the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases related to the oral cavity and surrounding areas.
What is a dentist?
A dentist like Dr. Szabo and Dr. Du is a specialist who works to diagnose, treat, and prevent oral health problems. Your dentist has completed at least eight years of schooling, and received either a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree, or a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree. Dr. Szabo completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy and Dr. Du completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan.
What services do you provide?
Drs. Szabo and Du provide comprehensive general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry, including:
- Dental fillings
- Crowns and implant crowns
- Dental cleanings
- Root canals
- Oral surgery
- Partial and complete dentures
- Implant-supported dentures
- Teeth whitening
What should I look for when choosing a dentist?
When you choose a dentist, you should always look for a dentist whom you can trust, truly cares about your well-being, and will treat you as they would treat their own family.
Also, consider the amount of continuing education the doctor completes. Drs. Szabo and Du routinely take much more continuing education than the state of Washington requires to maintain their dental licenses.
Why is visiting the dentist so important?
Visiting the dentist is important for many reasons. By regular visits to our Monroe dental office, we can easily detect and fix small dental problems before they turn into large expensive problems that can increase the cost in most cases up to 20 times!
It is also important to your overall health because dental diseases have been linked to a number of medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and preterm labor.
Finally, having a good smile is the first thing people notice, and it's easier to maintain a beautiful smile than it is to fix a broken down one.
What makes Family Dentistry of Monroe so special?
Receiving dental care at our office is different from going elsewhere because of the attention to detail that Drs. Szabo and Du take will all aspects of your oral care. We also take many steps to ensure the most comfortable and personal dental experience, including the use of the best topical anesthetic available, warm blankets if needed, neck pillows, even hot towels after your appointment.
How can I maintain my oral health between visits to your office?
- Make sure to brush with a fluoridated toothpaste and floss every day twice a day.
- Make healthy choices when it comes to your diet by avoiding foods high in sugar.
- Don't be afraid to brush your tongue! By brushing your tongue, you will remove food particles and reduce the amount of plaque-causing bacteria. Tongue brushing also helps keep your breath fresh.
Do I need to see the dentist if I have braces?
Yes! It is super important to visit Family Dentistry of Monroe for your regular checkups and cleanings because it is easier to develop gingivitis and cavities when you have braces.
What’s involved in my first visit?
Your first visit will include a thorough examination of your mouth, an overview of different dental treatment options explained clearly with pictures of your teeth on the screen, and most likely a dental cleaning. To schedule an appointment, simply contact our Monroe dental office and a member of our team will be happy to help!
